Weekend ended
The weekend is over just in a blink of the eye. Its Monday again! 1stly, wishing Xiaoyun a very happy 20th birthday! I doubt that she would read these but nevertheless still hopes that she enjoys her day and stay pretty every year!lolx!
I've got a Japanese Vocab and Grammer Quiz for tmr 1st Jap tutorial! Can you believe it!? Quiz on the 1st tutorial. I don't even have any idea who is my tutor yet! Amazing! So this Sun was wonderfully spent reading up on Jap to which till now I'm still somewhat lost in WorldWar2 I guessed.
Went cycling on saturday night. Been a while since we went on cycling trips. Everyone is so busy with their own work. So KX, CL and me embarked on a leisure trip down ESPLANADE and back. Enjoyable ride down town in the serenity of the night, traffic free roads, cutting through the cool cold breeze as we immersed ourselves in the darkness of the night. Night cycling is one thing I truly enjoy doing.
I attended this interview on friday in school with regards to admission into NUS NPCC. There was a panel of 3 people who interviewed me, asked me quite a few Qns and left me awaiting for results for 2weeks. I do think it went okie, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Project Superstar had really been the talk of town this weekend since thursday when fateful Junyang and Huixin(Its Xinhui not Huixin.lolx) got eliminated. Following that, Lianhe Wanbao published related articles regarding Superstars for 3 days straight. Don't they have anything else important to be published. Alright, since so, I should pen down something about it so as to appear more knowledgeable. Lolx. Seen Junyang celebrated his birthday on the day of the finals but it turned out to be quite a unpleasant one I supposed. This brought me into thoughts, 1st Sep is the Grand Finals in the indoors stadium, and IF ONLY 2 months ago i clicked submit on the application form, IF ONLY I took part in the competition and had come so far, IF ONLY I qualified for the grand finals on the 1st Sep, then I would be celebrating my birthday in the indoor stadium on the 1st Sep. WoW! Exciting yeah! Lolx..Like I say, its IF ONLY..Well its just a thought, call it a FANTASY if you want. Over and above all these, I still think Kelvin is great! Not withstanding his great vocals, I do admire his courage and persistence, something which I lacked and failed to pick up.
I listened to the Prime Minister's National Day Rally earlier on. This year's rally was rather different from those of the past, PM Lee actually uses video clips and powerpoint slides to captivate his audiences attention instead of the past conventional long speeches. And through these multimedia presentation, I thought he had driven his point about the importance of Post-Sec Edu well and how our polytechnics are of international standards by reiterating the point that those presentations are courtesy of ngeeann and nanyang poly. Killing 2 birds with a stone.
When PM Lee 1st stepped up as finance minister, his 1st annual financial report in march, he rised GST to 5%, lowered high income group income tax contributions so as to promote foreign investments etc etc. Then I thought he is a person who is only interested in Financial gains and so I thought the lower income group would suffer under his lead. His only concern would be those people high up on the meritocracy ladder. High earners and elite scholars would be in his favor.
Well, his 1st rally as PM last year made me changed my perception of him slightly, when he introduced a few policies in favor of the mediocre and lower incomed Singaporeans. This year he made himself a better PM from my point of view. His policies to lessen the income divide, to increase education for these familes to get out of the poverty cycles. He understood the fact that the society does not take the stars to tick, it takes a team, from the top right to the bottom. Polytechnics and ITEs are producing the bulk of each cohort and it doesnt pay to undermine their standings in this society. So what if you are a Graduate so to speak. His HDB housing rebate for the lower income group sounds appealing. Lolx! Maybe I am buying his policies because I belong to the low income group.
But well, its just after the presidential elections, though there wasn't much of an election so to speak, but politicians are anticipating the general elections to follow, probably the end of this year. So you know, come elections, there are always freebies!
I quote PM Lee, " Bian Zhe Tong, Bu Bian Zhe Qiong" , it means one has to change to have a break through, failure to change would result in poverty. I think this quote holds a very true stake in our current society.
Alright, I think I've wrote a real long entry. Shall pen off. Hope I will have a wonderful week ahead! Because Life is Great, enjoy life while you truly can! I'm the BEST cuz' im 2nd to none! JIA YOU!
