Sick

Been a great week, until last night. Ran a fever. Feeling horrible. Seen the doctor just now, cost me $30. Expensive. Supposed to go out with shawn n rencai today, but was too sick to move anywhere. Now that I've taken my medication, feeling better.
I was supposed to cover my readings last night, but I was too sick to do anything. So now I am still back logging my readings, I am trying to study for my japanese quiz for tomorrow, Japanese is taking up alot of my time. 3 tutorial classes and 1 lecture per week. All classes have quizzies. Its killing me! But of course mastering a third language takes alot of effort, and I am not regretting learning Jap language.
I've got an MC for tomorrow, still comtemplating to go to school or not. Lolx! I participated as a research participant for a psychology research which is tmr. Hmm..shall see how tomorrow.
Back to studying...I shall strive and be the BEST!

Great week!

It has been a great week so far. Its already Thursday, the weekends are coming again. Tomorrow is CHICKEN's hatchday. Still have not gotten her present yet, maybe should get her an Incubator ya.lolx! Been quite active this week. Went for a short jog last night, i was supposed to go 5km but since The Army left me, lolx, inmobility struck me and it struck me a good 4months and after 3km, I could only submit to fate. Well, I will be better next time, I gotta run more frequently now, my birthday is approaching, that also means something else, my IPPT window is opening! Gotta train up and run my lungs out for the extra cash courtesy of the SAF. I just finished my swim too in school.
I've got bad timetable scheduling on thursdays, especially on odd weeks, 8-10 jap tutorial, followed by 4-6 english tutorial. 6hours break in between! On even weeks its better with another 2hr tutorial in between. So I've decided, every thurs shall me my swimming day. Now I'm feeling great after the swim awhile ago, don't worry, Im not blogging at the pool.Lolx! Except for that wobbly legs from last night's run.
Alright, this is week 3 of the semester, things have been moving quite fast. Guess what!? 3 weeks more to mid term break! Holidays!! Lolx! and 10weeks more to end of semester! Isn't it great!! Of course I not looking at exams so to speak! Who wants to talk about it anyway. Come What May!!lolx!
My japanese has improved quite abit this weeks with the tutorials, we get lotsa practice. Everything else is fine. I realised my Malay Studies lecturer isn't really a boring guy. Indeed he has a very quick witted mind and he can answer whatever Qn we have plus examples in a spilt of a second. Lolx! EVerything else is just fine. Only my Sg Society, have been backlogging on loads of readings, perhaps I just do not want to be indoctrinated.Lolx!
Kk..Shall stop here. I meeting dear for lunch, since Ive got nothing to do in school till late, and I still have no intentions to be indoctrinated yet, so there you go! later!

Weekend ended

The weekend is over just in a blink of the eye. Its Monday again! 1stly, wishing Xiaoyun a very happy 20th birthday! I doubt that she would read these but nevertheless still hopes that she enjoys her day and stay pretty every year!lolx!
I've got a Japanese Vocab and Grammer Quiz for tmr 1st Jap tutorial! Can you believe it!? Quiz on the 1st tutorial. I don't even have any idea who is my tutor yet! Amazing! So this Sun was wonderfully spent reading up on Jap to which till now I'm still somewhat lost in WorldWar2 I guessed.
Went cycling on saturday night. Been a while since we went on cycling trips. Everyone is so busy with their own work. So KX, CL and me embarked on a leisure trip down ESPLANADE and back. Enjoyable ride down town in the serenity of the night, traffic free roads, cutting through the cool cold breeze as we immersed ourselves in the darkness of the night. Night cycling is one thing I truly enjoy doing.
I attended this interview on friday in school with regards to admission into NUS NPCC. There was a panel of 3 people who interviewed me, asked me quite a few Qns and left me awaiting for results for 2weeks. I do think it went okie, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Project Superstar had really been the talk of town this weekend since thursday when fateful Junyang and Huixin(Its Xinhui not Huixin.lolx) got eliminated. Following that, Lianhe Wanbao published related articles regarding Superstars for 3 days straight. Don't they have anything else important to be published. Alright, since so, I should pen down something about it so as to appear more knowledgeable. Lolx. Seen Junyang celebrated his birthday on the day of the finals but it turned out to be quite a unpleasant one I supposed. This brought me into thoughts, 1st Sep is the Grand Finals in the indoors stadium, and IF ONLY 2 months ago i clicked submit on the application form, IF ONLY I took part in the competition and had come so far, IF ONLY I qualified for the grand finals on the 1st Sep, then I would be celebrating my birthday in the indoor stadium on the 1st Sep. WoW! Exciting yeah! Lolx..Like I say, its IF ONLY..Well its just a thought, call it a FANTASY if you want. Over and above all these, I still think Kelvin is great! Not withstanding his great vocals, I do admire his courage and persistence, something which I lacked and failed to pick up.
I listened to the Prime Minister's National Day Rally earlier on. This year's rally was rather different from those of the past, PM Lee actually uses video clips and powerpoint slides to captivate his audiences attention instead of the past conventional long speeches. And through these multimedia presentation, I thought he had driven his point about the importance of Post-Sec Edu well and how our polytechnics are of international standards by reiterating the point that those presentations are courtesy of ngeeann and nanyang poly. Killing 2 birds with a stone.
When PM Lee 1st stepped up as finance minister, his 1st annual financial report in march, he rised GST to 5%, lowered high income group income tax contributions so as to promote foreign investments etc etc. Then I thought he is a person who is only interested in Financial gains and so I thought the lower income group would suffer under his lead. His only concern would be those people high up on the meritocracy ladder. High earners and elite scholars would be in his favor.
Well, his 1st rally as PM last year made me changed my perception of him slightly, when he introduced a few policies in favor of the mediocre and lower incomed Singaporeans. This year he made himself a better PM from my point of view. His policies to lessen the income divide, to increase education for these familes to get out of the poverty cycles. He understood the fact that the society does not take the stars to tick, it takes a team, from the top right to the bottom. Polytechnics and ITEs are producing the bulk of each cohort and it doesnt pay to undermine their standings in this society. So what if you are a Graduate so to speak. His HDB housing rebate for the lower income group sounds appealing. Lolx! Maybe I am buying his policies because I belong to the low income group.
But well, its just after the presidential elections, though there wasn't much of an election so to speak, but politicians are anticipating the general elections to follow, probably the end of this year. So you know, come elections, there are always freebies!
I quote PM Lee, " Bian Zhe Tong, Bu Bian Zhe Qiong" , it means one has to change to have a break through, failure to change would result in poverty. I think this quote holds a very true stake in our current society.
Alright, I think I've wrote a real long entry. Shall pen off. Hope I will have a wonderful week ahead! Because Life is Great, enjoy life while you truly can! I'm the BEST cuz' im 2nd to none! JIA YOU!

The "World Class" University, NUS

The "World Class" University, NUS(National University of Singapore) has done it yet again! In terms of wasting their students' time, effort and creating unneccessary stress amongst the student body. Yesterday was registration for tutorial balloting. It was supposed to commence at 0900hr, end at 1700hr, afterwhich results be announced at 2100hr. Guess what?! The server was down right from 0900hr till 2200hr. So 1st they extended the time to 1900hr while the server was still down, following that was an extension to 0600hr this morning, no improvements from the server either, and finally extended to 0900hr this morning with the server back from its OFF day at around 2200hr last night!

Check this out: www.petitiononline.com/nus
Interesting. I signed just for the fun of it, not that its gonna work anyway!

I think NUS School of Computing is the last place anyone wants to enroll in to pursuit his degree in computing. With tonnes of IT technicians,Computing and networking staffs, Computing lecturers with PhDs around campus, and they cannot solve this server problem caused by high bandwidth usage? It took more than 12hr for them to figure it out.So much so for a world class university. This is not the 1st time the system had failed us, during Modules bidding weeks ago, similarily the server crashed due to a sudden influx of users during the last 2hr of bidding, but at least the problem was solved in 2hrs and bidding was of course extended for another 2hr. Imagine the kind of really redundant and unneccessary stress generated when bidding is ending and you can't log in to place your bids.

So balloting results are out today, I've got 9 tutorials to attend this semester, 7 of which requires balloting, 1 of which i was not allocated a tutorial group. So what now? There is no choice but to ballot again this round. But if you are asking me why I've got so many Tutorials, again, there is not much of a choice also. I am taking 6 modules this semester. Not because I am on accerlerated learning, not that I'm striving to get on Deans' list, and not that I've nothing better to do, its just so because its so simple, I've got no choice. Actually there were choices to begin with, but the fact that I took up Japanese language with 3 tutorials weekly and was allocated an English Mod because from the way I write, I think you understand why, with 2 tutorials weekly, all other choices diminished.

Over and above all the unpleasant happenings, life is still great! Psychology, Economics and SG Society intrigue my interest alot. I still trying to learn my Japanese which is rather challenging, I can't even write and comprehend English properly and now I'm into Japanese! Great! And of course not forgetting my all "interesting" malay studies lecturer, yesterday while doing my sociology readings, I found out that this malay studies lecturer is quite a well known Sociologist in SG because his name actually appeared on my Socio readings! Lolz!

Alright, shall be going to do my readings now, gotta go to school later for a 2hr English Tutorial. Life is GREAT! I are the BEST!

Readings

Lesson proper started this week. With all readings coming in, I'm beginning to fill the heat building up slowly. I'm trying to keep up with all the readings, and I've backlogged quite a few already. Can you believe it? Lolz! 2nd week of school! Tutorials aint even started yet. Tomorrow would be the tutorial balloting, hopefully it would not be as sucky as the module biddings.

Today I attended my 1st Psychology, Japanese and Malay Studies Lectures. The psychology lecture was interesting. The lecturer was from the states, having been in SG for only 2weeks. He's quite a humourous guy. Jap lecture is a killer. I do not follow what the lecturer is talking about half the time. This is the 1st lecture and she thinks we are all from japanese speaking families, lolz, thinking that we understand every bit of jap she spoke. Think I gonna have a hard time. Tonnes of preperations and tasks to be done for Jap lessons. Maybe by the end of the semester, I can blog in japanese.lolz..dreamingz..Malay Studies Lecture was HORRIBLE! The lecturer is a boring freak! I don't give a shit if he sees this. A 2 hr monotonous lecture revolving round and round the same point. I can quote what he said over n over again.. "Modernisation must be purposeful", "it must be purposeful in that sense.", "let me reiterate again, it must be purposeful."... lolz..btw this module is called "Modernisation of The Malays" . Guess what, he is the only guy in the facutly teaching this, so all tutorials are conducted by him also. There is no escaping for me anymore! Wish me well!

All Psychology students gotta be experimental piggies for the staffs or senior students. They will "pay" you points when u participate in those researches, 30mins=1pt. For the semester, one would need to attain 12pts. This is part of the criteria, if not our final grade would be penalized. Yes, there is an alternative to this, you can opt outta this, but to fill up for the points, 2 term essays needs to be submitted instead. R U NUTS?! Be involve in 6hrs worth of research time is definetely better than writing 2 term papers, as least for me in that sense. All we do is just filled up some Questionairre most of the time. Lolz..Im going for my 1st one tmr, 90mins, about bilingual tingy, 3pts for it.

Alright, shall slack and pen no more. I gotta go read up on my SG Society, lagging by a mulititude of pages. The Opportunity Cost of me continuing to blog are my readings. Lolz. Econs is FUN! Next week I shall be back with the Demand and Supply Theories. LOLZ!

My life~

School started on wednesday, with the 1st lecture of Singapore Society. Supposed to be a 2hr lecture which was cut short to 30mins. No lesson proper, lecturer just touched on modules coverage and semester requirements. Quite a humourous lecturer with an unspontanous lecture group. Ha! He posed a few Questions to the floor but got back minimal response. I got laptop on the same day also. My lecture starts at 2pm and my collection timeslot is at 130pm at 2 different places in the Uni. Luckily I went earlier, I reached MPSH for laptop collection at 1230pm and I'm only done at 130pm. If I really did went at the allocated time, I think the lecture would have ended by then. Collected a free NUSSU Diary 2005 from school also. The NUSSU welfare dept are having a Bazaar and giving out these diaries, so there I got myself one, came in handy as I was just about to buy one.lolz
So thought I could play with my lappy when I get home, but who knows, I wasn't logged in as administrator and thus couldn't do anything.Haiz. So I brought down my lappy to sch today, no lessons for me btw, damnz, but at least now I am able to use my lappy to type whatever you reading now. lolz!
Tmr I've got an Econs Lecture at 4pm, going to school earlier to get my textbook and also accompany Joanne, who will be alone in school. hahaz! Probably would do some of my readings in school also. I'm so slack!! Have not started reading anything yet! I just don't feel like school had started yet! It feels so weird after missing school for 2 odd yrs!
As I sat in that LT yesterday, it brought back memories of the 1st lecture I attended 6yrs back in college. Different School, different LT, different subject, different lecturer, different environment, even the WEI WEN attending the lecture is no more the one 6yrs back. He is a changed man, changed for the better he certainly hoped.
Just like doing sales, I needa get my drive and desire for studies back!! I can't be slacking like this no more! I WILL and MUST get out of this comfort zone FAST!
I am the BEST!

Genius!!

I'm a genius! Read a report recently about a study done in England. This study which is done over a period of 3years, found out that the smartest kids are born in AUTUMN, which is mainly from 1st Sep to 311st Dec of the year and the kids with the poorest results are born from 1st May to 31st Aug o the year. Hmm..I wonder how true these studies results are but nevertheless, I'm still a genius! Lolz! Think like a genius, act like a genius, and you will eventually be one. I believe that your mind is what really make of you. Cuz on the contrary, if you think and act like a loser, there you go, LOSER!
Yesterday was our 3rd year anniversary. Love ya lotz dear! Went Sakae Sushi for lunch and then NYDC for dinner. Dear bought me a Rauph Lauren Sweater and a bottle of Hugo Boss perfume. She also gave me this gigantic milkbottle with 608 stars which she folded with a SITCH inside. I like it alot, thanks dear.
Sch is starting this Wed. This week I only have 2 lectures, 1 on wed and the other 1 on friday. Just so happen that the rest of my lectures are on tues, so hahaz! Happy National Day! Gotta get back the studious mode after spending 2 over yrs in an Organisation which doesn't require the usage of brains. I'm gonna work hard cuz I'm the BEST!

Done!

Im done with this blog's template! Many thanks to Angeline who did it up and sent it over. Anyway I am transferring all the old entries from my friendster's blog to here. So don't be surprised to see some aged old entries lying around ya.
Supposed to wake up at 1130 this morning to go to work at the same old place, none other than Suntec Carrefour. But I was awaken by an SMS at 10am, bringing me a piece of really sad information. My friend, shawn, a friend whom I know of since kindergarden and still in frequent contact, his dad passed on this morning, Liver Cancer. His dad, whom I knew since kindergarden also, to me is a quiet but friendly person. Life is just so unpredictable. I will be going to the wake this evening. To my dear friend, my deepest condolences.

Breathing again

Breathing normally once again. No need for resuscitation. No. Fret not. I did not suffer an asthmatic attack. I do not even have asthma to begin with. I was just breathing a little more intensively, at a slightly faster pace while fretting over the modular bidding. My blood pressure was probably slightly than average. All and all, my calculated risks of igniting a heart attack or stroke rocked skyhigh during the last few days. Now its all over. Bidding aint over yet. I still bidding for modules. Its not the physical aspect anymore. I've gotten over the mental stress. Now, bidding to me is just bidding per se. Period.

Was supposed to go for Flag Day today. But everything was in a mess, I don't know the time and place to report. Yuwei was supposed to tell me but she forgot I assumed. So I ended up sleeping till the cows came home.

Yesterday I attended the Freshmen Inauguration Ceremony 2005. What solemnity and importance? I thought it was boring. All the speakers that addressed us from NUS President to the NUSSU Chairperson, all spoke of NUS's world ranking, how good the school is, how fortunate of us to be admitted, blar blar blar...Same old cliches Ive been hearing right from before admission to today, matriculated and inaugurated as a student, NUS never changes its boastful nature. I just wonder if other Universities boast such a great deal. If so, I guessed MIT and Harvard students must have been so much brainwashed into thinking that they are so damn good! But I do agree that that is one good way to inspire and boost students morale. Anyway, I got a leather file and some other momentos inside the file for attending the ceremony, so shouldnt complain further. Lolz.

Can't wait to start school. Can't wait to tackle the challenges that awaits me. I will strive becuz im the BEST!
