The Calm after the storm
It has been a busy week. The 1st week of 2006 has just passed. Npcc unit stuff, camps, personal stuff and most importantly, the CORS. It has by far been a pleasant year, though it might be too early to judge.
Its a week of battle for me against the NUS CORS. I got outbidded for my core module twice, 800+ pts could not even get me a place. Ridiculous. Now I can only push the module to next semester. Many of my friends were forced to take up cheap modules in the end. Those 1 pointer where no one wants to take. Now its finally over, the bottomline is I've secured 5 modules. Many are still continuing the battle after the weekend, wish them all luck. My modules are as follows: PL3232(abnormal psyc), PL3236(biological psyc), PH1101E(philo), TS1101E(theatre studies) and MKT1003(marketing). None of these modules are as time comsuming as LAJ1201(Japanese), so hopefully I can do better this coming semester, wish me luck too!
Went for a team building camp as instr by outdoor consultants on wed conducted for Bukit Batok Sec. It is a all new and different experience. Away from regimentation, apart from uniformed organisation, the way to handle the students is totally different from NPCC and SAF. Its a totally new methodology of group management I've learnt and there is still a long way to go. One needs to be very motivated himself in order to bring up the morale of the students.
Went for BBQ at NTU hall 13 yesterday evening. It is our sq gathering to bid farewell to Jennifer, celebrate Sabrina's bdae and also have fun before NUS starts school. Although it rained when we started, it did not bring the morale down, in fact, when I arrived, I saw them carrying umbrellas while BBQing! What a funny sight! Afterwhich we stayed over at Sabrina's room. Played Piggie game, cards, mahjong, gossip all night long. Fun Fun and Fun! Had our breakfast at Canteen 14 in the morning before we left for home. Now that NUS is starting our semester, meet up wont be so frequent anyone, but I do hope to see everyone soon! Probably at Chingay..or even sooner. Take Care Folks!!
Recruitment drive for my unit NPCC sec 1s hit a all time low this year. Though nothing is fixed yet, the tentative number is at 29. Horrendous. But I choose to look at it in another way. My school enrolment also hit a all time low of only 240+ students with only 1 class of 23 express students. We secured slightly higher than 10% of the Sec1 enrolment.
After all these hecticness, this weekend is going to be a take-it-easy kind of thing. Got to switch back to studying mode again. Can you feel the relectance of returning to school, the thought of lectures and tutorials is beginning to make me feel sick. My only school days now are Monday and Tuesday, so next week my only school day is Monday because Tues is a PH. No! don't be envious, after the tutorial kicks in, I will be on a 3 day week, hopefully a Wednesday. For those on a 5day week, c'mon..take it easy...I've been through it last semester so I know it SUCK! hahax...
Have an outstanding weekend everyone! Enjoy the calmess and serenity after the storm before setting off toward another storm on Mon.
